Many people know the Amazon Rainforest as the lungs of the Earth and the Amazon River plays an important role to this. It is impressively powerful and acts as a heart for the Earth, flowing over 20% of the freshwater into our oceans. I used this concept by representing the river as human veins, which I showcase in my illustration on the gate fold. I also chose specifically to use aerial photographs of the river to showcase the similarity between human veins and the way the river appears visually when seen from above.

I wanted to highlight the importance of the river’s function on a global scale. Land and sea are individually important to ecosystems each playing their specific role; duality and connection is a theme throughout the brochure. The solid colours alongside the pictures of the river represent the coexistence which is also symbolic for living beings and our reliance on the Amazon River. I chose deep earth colours to represent the vast of land/water and used a typeface that is suitable to the flowing motif.
